  • Lightning Strike!

    Mon 28 Nov 2022 S Holloway

As many of you know, we had quite dramatic weather over Greenhill Primary last week! We have managed to fix nearly all of our damaged systems and everything inside the building is working fine. However, unfortunately our intercom system at the gate didn't survive the lightning! Therefore, should you need access to the school, phone the office when you are at the gate and we can unlock them. We have been promised that it will be fixed soon so hopefully this is only a temporary measure.

I would like to end by repeating my thanks to all of the parents, carers, staff and children who were calm and careful throughout the event. Diolch yn fawr.

    Dear parents and carers,

So here it is at last, Summer Term, and there is finally some sunshine and warmth in the air! I hope you all had a lovely Easter, ate just the right amount of chocolate and are now looking forward to a long and glorious summer.

It is lovely to welcome the children back into school and to see their bright, smiley faces and we have some exciting and interesting themes being taught across the school which I am sure will capture their enthusiasm to learn.

    On to the news!

    Covid-19

As the country begins to return to normal following the pandemic schools in Caerphilly have been advised to continue to follow the local risk assessment guidance. Therefore, in order to reduce the risk of exposure, we will continue to limit the number of adults in the school, monitor interaction between classes, and staff will continue to wear masks in indoor communal areas.

We greatly appreciate your patience and support. If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Social Media

We have been made aware of a few incidents of children using social media and messaging apps inappropriately and we are very grateful to the parents who have brought this to our attention.

It is important that our children are kept safe and we strongly advise all parents and carers to carefully monitor the apps and messages that children are accessing.

    Curriculum for Wales

Education in Wales is currently undergoing a series of very big changes. From September, we will be teaching children to a new curriculum, The Curriculum for Wales. Rest assured, behind the scenes we have been working extremely hard getting ready for it. Very soon we will share some information with you about this so keep an eye out for it.

  • Covid 19 Risk Assessment Arrangements

    Mon 28 Mar 2022 S Holloway

    Dear parents and carers,

As you are aware the rules regarding COVID19 in Wales are changing. Welsh Government has decided to continue to take a cautious approach. The key points include:

     ·         A legal requirement to continue to wear face coverings in health and social care settings.

    ·         Welsh Government strongly advises everyone to wear face coverings in crowded indoor public places, including in shops and on public transport.

    ·         Self-isolating after a positive test is strongly recommended rather than a legal requirement after 28th March.

    ·         Guidance to schools will remain unchanged until the end of term on 8th April then we will consider arrangements for the new term return after Easter.

As you can see, in schools we have been advised that for the remainder of this term we are to work to the same risk assessment that has been in place for a number of weeks. This means that should a child test positive or show symptoms of COVID 19 they are not to come to school until they are symptom free and have had two negative LFT results on consecutive days beginning on Day 5.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding in this matter as we continue to do all that we can to ensure the safety of everyone involved with the school.
