Welcome

Easter Newsletter

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome to our April newsletter.

Once again, it has been a short but very busy half term. Among our many activities, we have:

  • Been visited by Hayley from Bakes and Cakes, who also brought us some lovely welsh cakes to sample (Dosbarth Glas)

  • Visited the Royal Mint (Dosbarth Indigo)
  • Held our own Eisteddfod to celebrate St David’s Day
  • Visited St Fagan’s Museum to experience what school was like in Victorian times (Dosbarth Fioled)
  • Participated in science workshops delivered by the National Farmers Union
  • Been visited by Caerphilly Library Services (Dosbarth Enfys)
  • Made a film of Jack and the Beanstalk (Dosbarth Melyn)
  • Been visited by the Bumbles of Honeywood (Dosbarth Gwyrdd)
  • Celebrated World Book Day
  • Participated in a football tournament (Years 5 & 6) and
  • Attended a panto in Cardiff which meant we had a very late bedtime! (Year 3 & 4).

St. David’s Day

We all enjoyed celebrating St David’s Day. Congratulations, llongyfarchiadau, to all our competition winners, particularly our Chaired Bards, Lilly-May Prestidge and Lilly Roynon!

Summer Trips

Letters have gone out for most classes detailing the Summer term trips. As requested by nearly 75% of parents and carers we have returned to the larger, more expensive trips. Families are able to pay in lump sums or in instalments for these trips. However, it would be extremely helpful if the permission slips could be returned ASAP.

If you haven’t heard about a summer trip for your child yet, news will follow soon.

New Class

From September 2024, we will be hosting a third Special Needs Resource Base class at Greenhill Primary. We are very proud of our reputation for providing safe, inclusive and effective education for children with specific additional learning needs – our staff from Arian and Aur are frequently called upon to provide guidance to staff from other schools – and look forward to expanding our provision further.

Please note, all SNRB placements are decided by the Local Authority, not the school.

SeeSaw

We are changing the way that we use SeeSaw messages. Parents and carers will no longer be able to message school staff unless responding to a direct question or message.

Twitter/X

We often share news of the exciting activities in which our children participate on Twitter / X. It would be great to increase our followers, find us @Greenhill10.

Parents’ Evenings

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended, either in person or on the phone. We had a fantastic turn out, showing that our school motto is true, “together we can”.

Attendance

We value good attendance and aim to support families in achieving the highest possible attendance for their child. We will regularly keep you updated of your child’s attendance percentage. Certificates will be handed out for children achieving 95% and above for this term. You can also see the class attendances by accessing our website, www.greenhillprm.co.uk

PTA

We are lucky to have an active PTA. We always need help and new members. Check your SeeSaw announcements from Mrs Gould for news of future events and meetings.
